Center for Children's Health & Safety
Healthy Kids - Safe Kids
Mercy is committed to providing the very best care for your child while he or she is in our care. We offer a variety of programs and services for children from newborn to adolescent. Our Pediatric team encourages you to spend as much time as possible with your child while they are here, and all of our pediatric staff are specially trained to care for your little one, certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and other specialized pediatric care services.
Our programs for you and your child include inpatient pediatric care, outpatient surgery services and Safe Kids. Resources on this site include primary care physician and pediatrician information, links to community resources including immunization information, the Mercy Playland, nutrition ideas and Safe Kids.
Inpatient Pediatric Care
Our inpatient pediatric unit, managed by Lisa Kluting, Clinical Leader and RN, is located on the fourth floor of the Mercy Sherman campus. Lisa is happy to answer your questions about inpatient pediatric care at MHP. Email or call 231-672-4035.
Outpatient Surgery for Kids
Many
children visit our Muskegon General Campus on Oak Avenue for outpatient
care such as a tonsillectomy or ear tube placement. View our
Scooby Doo video to see what the experience may be like for your
child. Be sure to confirm the correct hospital location for your
child's care with your child's physician. Kim
McElhaney, RN, Clinical Leader for Muskegon General Surgery,
can assist you with questions about outpatient care for your child
at Mercy. Email
or call 231-672-6159.
Safe Kids
Safe Kids Muskegon is dedicated solely to preventing unintentional childhood injury and seeks to improve the community health status by identifying risk populations and offering education and resources aimed at reducing the number of unintentional injuries to children such as auto, bicycle and water safety. For more information or to schedule a car seat safety check, contact Holly Alway, Safe Kids Coordinator at 231-672-2222.
Healthy Kids
Have
you ever wondered how to make healthy habits a daily routine for
your child? Try using Lakeshore
Family Care's Pediatric Health Incentive Program at home.
By marking a monthly calendar with a sticker or star each time your
child tries or eats a healthful food or engages in active sports
or play. They can earn points towards a prize that you provide at
the end of the month (Lakeshore Family Care provides stickers and
prizes for their participating patients). This program is
best suited for school-aged children from 6 to 12 years. Be
sure to check out our online tips for Smart
snacks for kids and Tips
to Get Kids Moving from the Mercy H.E.A.R.T. Center’s
Center for Weight Management.
Our commitment: No matter your child's needs, Mercy's pediatric
team is committed to the health and safety of your child.
We're ready to provide the very best care and we promise to treat
your little one just like we would treat our own family. |
